Finishing touches on organizations
In our last update we talked about a new feature that allowed users to create organization profiles on Prizemojo.
"On Prizemojo, an organization is not an individual but rather an entity through which a group of users can create and sponsor giveaways."
A few examples of organizations:
- A small, especially online, business
- A Not-for-profit or Nonprofit organization
- A blog w/one or more authors
- A nickname for a group of friends
Previously users could create organizations (and thus claim the name) but couldn't do much with them. Now organizations can be managed and can perform most actions a user can do (except win prizes, of course).
Organizations can now have any number of members and each of those members can perform actions on behalf of the organization, such as submitting a giveaway, offering to sponsor, sponsoring, replying to sponsorship offers, and moderating the comments on the organization's page or one of the organization's giveaway pages.
Ok but what does all this mean?
It means that multiple people are now able to work together in promoting an organization by way of giveaways and other positive user interactions with the Prizemojo community.
A special type of member is an "owner." Along with everything a member can do, an owner can manage the organization itself. This includes adding, editing and removing members and even deleting the organization.
The creator of an organization is automatically added as an owner and any number of members can be owners at the same time.
This concludes all work on organizations until beta and puts us past the 50% mark for our alpha construction status! Much of the second half of the alpha will be giveaway-game related features. We would like to extend a big thanks to all of you who have signed up and provided encouragement, input, and feedback. A special thanks goes to those who have created giveaways (published or not) and organization profiles. All of these things will be a big help in the months ahead.

@ericm When we get around to coding that feature, yes. :) The in-site alerts are fairly primitive yet but will improve as we approach beta. That particular improvement is on our radar already but your feedback will give it a bit of boost in priority, thanks!

I clicked on the link from the email that brought me to the finishing touches page. I noticed I had an alert telling me there was an update to this page. If I land on this page, shouldn't that clear my alert without my manually clearing it? :)

@prizelord - Yes, but you can only see a list of the organizations you are a member of. At present, non-members will only find organizations through a giveaway page submitted or sponsored by the organization or if the link is shared with them. Like this: https://www.prizemojo.com/organizations/nerd-gourds/ Some kind of public listing would be something we would consider if there is enough interest.
